All the Locust access methods |
 |
 |
With the changes nearly upon us, I've produced a summary of all of the different ways you can access Locust. There are options for your PC, options for smart phones, options for WAP phones and even SMS for those who are willing to pay individually per message. I would also like to remind all Locust users that Locust is currently free with no subscription payments required.

Locust access methods |

It seems that Fastxt have now changed their business model to introduce a per message charge. This makes Fastxt unviable. Instead people should now download the TipicME java software - (need to register on their site for downloads to work) - This can be used to connect to either the Locust AIM or Locust MSN gateway. I will be adding a native jabber gateway in the next 10 days. Click "read more" for more details on ways of accessing Locust in the future.

For the last year Locust’s text message delivery has been supported by OrangeImagineering as per the announcement in December 2001. The support of OrangeImagineering has been very useful and welcome, however, they are no longer able to continue with this...

Locust is entering a new phase of development... We're looking at a number of new technologies and the capabilities of the new "smart-phones" - Ones which can run custom network applications written in C++ or Java. Can you code? Would you like to be involved in the cutting edge of mobile development? If so, drop us an email with a brief outline of your skills. There are some very fun things in the works!

The Locust Interview - words from Japitts |
 |

Admin writes "Part of Locust's success has been due to the way the service can be improved and crafted by the users themselves. Channel content is user controlled and information sources can also be added by anyone for all to enjoy. Periodically we interview long term members of the service, click READ MORE below to read Japitts responses."
